Outdoor United Readers
Spend time with family, camp and study while earning your diploma/degree. Build a home and a business.
Outdoor United Readers is a private school program that aims to assist in addressing some of the academic needs of our community. The OUR academic program utilizes individual and community reading as a cross-curricular tool for academic empowerment and success. Studies take place in a community family powered, yet instructor guided study hall environment.
Enrollment is available to all eligible* infants, children, teens, and adults, who are in need of a family study school, family study life space, extended study time, grade verification and adjustment or opportunities for additional academic credit.

Students Families may participate in OUR PK-12 program to earn a diploma. Families may also participate in *OUR College Intro+ program to earn a general undergraduate degree. Full and part time study scheduling is available. Student Families may sign-up as a family individual or individual with dependent minors.

Student Families study space placements vary and may be at the main California outdoor campus or at a University Outdoor Garden Camp Extensions study location. Families may access the placements as self- sufficient units and may choose to camp, build a tiny living space or build a micro living space. Student Families that want to experience an academic lifestyle for an extended period may have the option, through free courses, to build an inexpensive tiny living space with their own farming and (optional) other approved business on a school campus or extensions location.

A limited number of on campus study spaces are available at any given time. However, all eligible families are encouraged to sign-up, as the program is expanded according to exhibited community need. Families that want to sign up but can't afford payments right now may add their names to the Special Interest Waitlist. Families that desire to participate but can only do so solely online may add their names to the Online Request Waitlist.
On campus cohort one enrollment closes April 11, 2026, or earlier if the maximum capacity is reached before that time.
Early Family orientations and check-ins begin fall of 2026. General campus check-ins begin fall of 2027.
