Additional Information

Outdoor United Readers is a private school program that aims to assist in addressing some of the academic needs of our community.    Enrollment is available to all eligible persons who want to participate in an alternative school environment while building a new homelife in a placed or self-built home of varying type.
 

Students Families may participate in OUR PK-12 program to earn a diploma. Families may also participate in *OUR College Intro+ program to earn a general undergraduate degree. Full and part time study scheduling available.  Student Families may sign-up as a family individual or group.    

Main Qualifications

*In need of an alternative learning setting for a student in grades twelve or under.

*Willingness to participate in a student driven, yet teacher guided learning environment

*Interested in participating in a college introduction program that is in process of meeting accreditation requirements. 

*Willingness to build or place your own self-contained* habitable building, recreation vehicle*, van, truck, tent or tentlike structure to enable student(s) to study at a California private school campus or other USA state extensions location.

*Students aged seventeen and under must be accompanied and assisted by an adult that has or has been legally given authority over the minor aged student and is willing to assist the student with all aspects of their academic studies.

*Students aged eighteen and older who require assistance must be accompanied by their chosen adult caregiver. If more than one adult caregiver is required, please contact us.

Out of Pocket Costs to Start

$150 to begin enrollment for one adult or emancipated minor plus up to 1 additional minor or 1 medically necessary adult care person.

Steps to Enrollment through Check-In  

~Submit Enrollment Registration 1 and partial payment of discounted private school exam lab enrollment fee. ($150)

You may click here to complete Enrollment Registration 1 and submit payment. You will need a referral code to access the discount.  If you were not referred to CTH, please contact us and we will send you a coupon code.

Enrollment closes April 11, 2026 or earlier if maximum capacity is reached before that time.

~Prepare for your first fall conference. This conference is part of your orientation.  Click here after April 12, 2026 for requirements and suggestions.

~Confirm the scheduling of your first conference within eight days of receiving your scheduling email.   You will meet with your teacher or a member of the Dean's Panel.  If you need to meet with a teacher or member of the Dean's Panel prior to first conferences, please contact us.

~Submit requested documents and academic concerns prior to conference for teacher and dean review.

~Receive and review CTH responses to your concerns and documents 3 days or earlier prior to the livestream conference.

~Receive and test the livestream link on your chosen device 3 days prior to the livestream conference.

~Attend the livestream group conference.  If after the conference you choose not to continue, you will be offered a special $150 Callis T House gift card.

If you choose to continue

​

~Confirm your continued enrollment by reviewing and approving the education plan discussed during your conference. ​

​

~Create a payment schedule that works for your budget for the remaining exam lab enrollment fee balance of $2500. Submit your payment schedule.  Payment schedules may be adjusted in the future if there is an unforeseen financial challenge. 

​

~Review and approve your Financial Aid Agreement after receiving it by email.

​

~Review placement and construction information as posted.

~If needed, enroll in design, placement and build general trade guidance courses. ($Your choice of tuition donation amount.)

~Finalize and submit home design.

~Choose your campus check in date and time.

~Prepare for campus check-in.  

~Receive logn-in credentials to view journal assignments at www.manu.education

~Pre-campus check-in journal assignments begin fall of 2026.  Work on required academic activities as they are assigned prior to campus check-in. 

​

~Early campus check-ins for volunteers and those needing more time to set-up begin fall of 2026. General campus orientations and check-ins begin fall of 2027.

Campus Check-In 

​~Check-In following check-in instructions,

~Take an identification picture and receive your temporary identification card

~Receive your special $300 school store card which may be used to purchase school supplies, building materials, thrift items, meal cards, and many other available items from the school store.

~Begin set-up of your study space.

~Continue journal assignments posted prior to check-in.  You must copy or download these assignments prior to arrival.

~Receive your security identification card prior to the start of classes.

~Attend required and optional orientation activities.

​

~Begin on campus classes January 12, 2027.

*OUR College Intro+ program offers students the option to participate in a CTH non-accredited college program as allowed in California or a CTH in progress toward accreditation college and university program.
